Write Your Own Manual

Write Your Own Manual

Do you have an ADHD brain? And do you want to make things work better for you? Then it’s time to Write Your Own Manual!

It is a game changer to have a clear idea of how you operate. When you know what's important to you, what you are good at, and what circumstances you function best in, making choices that are right for you suddenly gets much easier. This type of clarity is also amazingly useful in explaining to other people how you work best. How do you do this? You Write Your Own Manual.

Why should you Write Your Own Manual?

Good instructions make it easier to do things and help avoid making a mess or even damage as we go. This is true for putting together flat-pack furniture, for getting the most out of a device and it is also true for people. Most people have a sense of what works for them in most situations, especially when they have been there before. Using that sense to purposefully work out what your own ‘instructions’ are, makes it easier to put them to use. If you have your own user instructions, they can help you work better, succeed more easily, make life choices, and live with less friction.

Why is this especially useful when you have ADHD?

If you happen to have a brain that is wired differently from the neurotypical brain, the Standard Instructions - things that work for most people in most situations - often don’t work. Sometimes they don’t work as well, sometimes they are even counterproductive. This is why it is so useful to Write Your Own Manual, based on what actually works for your unique brain.  And this program will help you do just that.

How does it work?

In six sessions, you will Write Your Own Manual. Every week, or at your own pace, you receive a Handbook with information and exercises that guide you through the program. The program is structured as follows:

  • You will gather what you already know about yourself and consider strategies that may be useful.

  • You then put this knowledge to use and refine it into a Manual format - and make progress towards a goal you set as you go.

  • The next section is about how to communicate about your Manual - what do and don’t you explain about yourself, to who and how?

  • In the last part, you review what you now know about yourself - including how Writing Your Manual works for you and how to use this in the future to add to or review your Manual

The Write Your Own Manual program now has its very own website! Go to www.writeyourownmanual.com for all the info on the program and to sign up.
